I read the link about how to dye yarn first before I went any further. Lol my question is this. Did you add water to the glow paint like you did with the other paint?

Hey Sara,
The only water added was the water still left in the damp yarn. 🙂
“So I went through the process of ‘dying’ my yarn by first making a small(ish) hank of white, but this time I wet the yarn really well, drained the water so that the yarn was still wet but not dripping, and then poured some of the paint directly over it and massaged it in.”
The rest of the process is outlined in the post. Hope that helps!

thanks for the post! I am going to try this by dying worsted white with glow in the dark paint and do it in hanks. Bernat made it once for a reasonable price, but now no one has it any more. My daughter wants a Zero dog crochet animaguri for christmas and I will try that.
My only comment is that I would put a small fan in front of it so it dries faster.

My question is regarding the amount of yarn and paint. I have weighed out 2oz hanks of yarn is 1 bottle enough or do I need more? Thanks!

I only used a small squirt (enough to wet through all the yarn) so a bottle should last you through a couple of full 7 ounce skeins 🙂

Hi! I just used your tutorial to make glow embroidery floss, and so far so good! I don’t know how it will pull apart into individual strands, but I’ll keep you updated after it’s dried. I was so happy to find glow stuff! Thank you for your help!

The pink yarn was dyed with regular pink acrylic paint. It does not glow in the dark. 🙂

OHH, i guess it will also work with fluorescent painting so it will be visible only on UV light.
I have to try that this week-end, thank you for the tutorial.

I’d never have thought of this! I would have assumed that you’d end up with “crunchy” yarn. DEFINITELY trying!

Would it be possible to dye a colored yarn with the glow in the dark paint? This really intrigues me!

Does it matter what depth of color it is used on? For example if I used it on a light pastel blue vs navy blue? Or will it not work on any blue at all?
