This one has been a real labor of love and I could never have finished it without a whole team of dedicated testers cheering me on and pushing me through at every step of the way.

To each and every one of you, I send a heartfelt thank you–and a FREE copy of the completed pattern! I appreciate your time and effort more than you’ll ever know!

This will be a HUGE departure for me but a necessary one that’s been a long time coming. While free patterns will be a giant part of what I’m all about, certain patterns that I put my heart and soul into will be offered for sale.

Diamond Mermaid Cocoon Photo Prop: PDF PATTERN: $5.50.

Available as an instant download in any of my online shops.

What’s included with your purchase:

You will receive a PDF file of a complete crochet pattern. Finished projects are ideal for use as a stunning prop for professional photographers or for parents who want to create their own precious memories.

This pattern would also be adorable for a Halloween costume.

The diamond pattern also has the added benefit of being UNISEX. Simply crochet using darker colors and leave off the top for an ultra cool merman!

What you will find within the pattern:
Included with your purchased PDF file are complete and thoroughly tested patterns for the mermaid tail, fin, and top.

Also included is a hand drawn symbol chart (which will make crocheting this prop a breeze) along with a thorough photo tutorial walking you through each step of the diamond stitch.

All techniques and finished sizes are listed in US terminology.

Sizes: This pattern is written for a newborn: size 0-3 months ONLY. You can easily adapt this pattern to fit a larger baby by sizing up recommended crochet hooks and adding several more rounds to make it longer.

Depending on what type of yarn you use, there could be several inches of stretch. Finished prop should measure approximately 17″ long and 14″ wide at the waist–tapering to 18″ at its widest point.

I was referring to my testers who I gave a free copy to. Sorry for the misunderstanding there.

ok Thanks for clearing that up! May I ask before I purchase this pattern, how can this be enlarged to fit a 6 month old? I’m a great following patterns but not so good and figuring out up and down for sizes. What increments would i use to make this diamond pattern larger?

The prop only fits a newborn up to around the 14 pound mark so if you wanted to size it up a super simple way to do it is to just use a larger hook and make it longer than recommended. I’ve had many customers successfully make this fit a 6 month old just by those simple changes 🙂

    Good Afternoon!

I am currently working on the mermaid photo prop set.

I have finished up the bottom part…turned out fantastic.

My question to you is, where are the instructions for cinching the front of the top?
I have made up the top, worked out great…. I just am wondering how to cinch the top tight.

    Thanks!
    Kirsten
