I made the boots by Mikey and they came out good but two different boots. The issue was pattern said one thing, he did another. For instance, the last stitch in a row: sl st and ch 1 is what he said. Pattern rarely said to do anything, and if it did, it said to sc in last st. I noticed that your pattern does not indicate what to do to go on to next round. No ch1 or sl st. Right?
I will most likely follow video. I looked at it yesterday and it is excellent. Wow! Great job! Thanks for your time and talent.

Hi Dawn and thanks for the question and feedback! I love Mikey and all of his videos. He is awesome in my book and everything he does comes right from the heart.
As for my pattern, I work them a little differently and you’ll see what I mean if you download a copy, read the part that says ‘Pattern Notes’ and then watch along with the video. I have no doubts that you’ll be cranking these cuties out by the boatload!

Your video is too hard to follow, it drops out in the first one so it stops making sense. Would be better if you provided written instructions as well.

Really liked your videos until the third one. The music add is annoying. When one is trying to concentrate, the music is not wanted or helpful imho. Second, one who may have dyslexia can’t follow all the writingbeing thrown in. Third, the font on the image for certain stitches is too small. I will skip the 3rd video and figure it out from there. Hope you find this constructive and will consider redoing the 3rd video for those reasons. Thank you ~

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been working on this update for several days now, as I have planned to revamp all of my older videos so that they are more concise and clearer to understand. Music will be something that accompanies the updated version of the cowboy boots so if it’s annoying (which I agree it can be after a while), you can simply turn down your speakers or even mute the volume of the video and listen to something else enjoyable while still being able to follow along.
You are also highly encouraged to download a free copy of the pattern for use while crocheting. It is meant to accompany the video. The new upload will hopefully make things a little more clear when working through the pattern instead of just throwing a bunch of it at you all at once.
These video tutorials take a ton of effort between filming and editing and are meant to help fans of my work get a little help when they don’t understand. Hopefully you’ll get more out of the new version as soon as I get it finished and uploaded.

I want to start by saying I love this pattern and thank you for sharing. However I have a couple issues. I have created a pair of these and I can’t seem to keep them from twisting even when I follow your pattern step by step. Not to mention once I create the toe they are more square then rounded. Is this something that can be fixed by “shaping” the boot once it is complete? Any suggestions are greatly appeeciated!! Thanks in advance.

What great questions!! If your shoe is twisting, it could be a bunch of things but I find the most common is uneven tension when working around the foundation round.
It could also be misplaced stitches. Try using a marker to find that first stitch so that you don’t end up accidentally placing stitches in the wrong place (that tip saved my fingers on more than on occasion, lol).
A square toe is most likely due to the way you are working your decreases creating a more boxy look than mine. ALL of that is totally normal though (and that’s the beauty of crochet!!) because it’s those things that make them totally yours!
I’ve found that most booties really need to be blocked. All of my shoes are blocked before a photo shoot and sometimes they are stuffed. If you are making these to give away, I recommend blocking first and then stuffing to hold the shape during shipping. It really goes a long way to taking a lumpy bootie to the next level.

Thank you for responding so quickly. If I had to guess it would be the tension because I do crochet pretty tightly. These are a gift but I’m not shipping them as they are for my nephew due in May. I actually found the pattern for the revisited pair so I am going to work up that pattern and see how they woek out for me. I also plan on making a hat and diaper cover to match. Wiah mw luck lol. I will try to post pictures once I have worked them up.

I”m working on the revised version of the boots. I made both of my soles, but I’m not really sure what the false heel means, and how the two soles are joined together. Any help would be great!

Rnd 1: With brown, ch 12 (14) Im so confused on what the (14) means? does it mean I crochet I chain 12 then crochet 14?

The (#) is the number of chains for the larger size. If you are crocheting the small size you would use 12, but if you were making the larger size, you would use 14.

Thnks for this pattern! My son fell in love with these as soon as he saw them. He’s foot is 7″ snug. Im new to crocheting – are there any “rules” you can follow to make different sizes? i did find one clip for making a sole to your own size but thats it. Any help would be appreciated…I can understand your a busy mummy!

Thanks for the question! You can size these up by following the same pattern for the largest size and using a larger hook and thicker yarn 🙂 That’s the simplest way to do it and as long as you don’t strangle your yarn too much you should be able to get them dramatically larger just with those adjustments!

My soul turned out great but Imade the mistake of using a thick and quick homespun yarn as a beginner! It’s an absolutely adorable slipper but it got kind of miss shappen and I doubt I could get one to match! Anyone know any one-footed babies? I have”a” really cute warm fuzzy slipper here. I will try this again. I was looking for the loopy boot and couldn’t find the end pattern for it though. Thank you I really enjoyed your video especially where you showed how to do the stitch yo were working on. That was VERY helpful. i will be back!

I have a question converning the bottom of the sole: the wool might be slippery, what can I do to the bottom of the sole to prevent this and the child from slipping and falling?

Would it be possible to do these to fit a larger size? maybe a 7 inch sole? How would you even go about that if so?

You can cheat the sole larger by just sizing your hook up to an H or even an I. Doing it that way, follow the instructions for the large and see where your finished sole ends up!

Thanks Marissa, I was wondering the same thing. I have 3 grandsons ages 5, 4, and 1 and mommy has requested some slippers and these are perfect! I don’t have a printer so I’ll copy this by hand I guess. My son (26) would like a pair of dragon slippers if you know of a pattern.
