Cross-Stitch Baby Blanket

Just today, I ran into this GORGEOUS baby blanket crocheted by an amazing crochet artist, Carol Sue Miller. 

She came up with a pattern that is simply stunning and I had to ask if I could share it! Since she’s amazing, she happily agreed and here we all are! I’m super excited to share it with all of you because–as you can see, it’s really quite lovely.

So without further ado, I present the Cross-Stitch Baby Blanket designed by Carol Sue Miller.

Materials Needed:

• Size H (5.00MM) crochet hook
• Caron Simply Soft Yarn in any color

Ch 99 (chs at end of ea row count as 1 st)

Row 1 – Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea st across; ch 1 and turn;
Row 2 – Sc in next ch and ea st across; ch 2 and turn;
Row 3 – Hdc in next st and ea st across; ch 3 and turn;
Row 4 – Dc in next st , *sk next st, dc in next st, dc in sk st (cross-stitch made)*, repeat from * across to last dc; dc in last dc and in top of ch 3 of prev row; ch 3 and turn;

Row 5 – 8 – repeat row 4; at end of row 8 ch 2 and turn;

Row 9 – Hdc in next st and ea st across; ch 1 and turn;
Row 10 – Sc in next st and ea st across; ch 2 and turn;

Row 11 – repeat row 9; at end of row 11 ch 3 and turn;

Row 12 – 16 – repeat rows 4 – 8
Row 17 – 19 – repeat rows 9 – 11
Row 20 – 24 – repeat rows 4 – 8
Row 25 – 27 – repeat rows 9 – 11
Row 28 – 32 – repeat rows 4 – 8
Row 33 – 35 – repeat rows 9 – 11
Row 36 – 40 – repeat rows 4 – 8
Row 41 – 43 – repeat rows 9 – 11
Row 44 – 48 – repeat rows 4 – 8; at end of row 48, ch 2 and turn;

Row 49 – Hdc in next st and ea st across; ch 1 and turn;
Row 50 – Sc in next st and ea st across; ch 1 and turn;
Row 51 – repeat row 50; fasten off.

EDGING: You can use any edging you prefer. There are many to choose from at Crochet Pattern Central. The one I used was called Lacy V’s and Picots edging.
